The Proposal

@PAL Boeing 777-300 ER bound to HK, 02142010

In the midst of our flight bound to Hong Kong, Aedner broke the soft buzzing sound of the plane engine saying, “Bebe, I have something for you”… just woke up from a short nap then, resting my head on his shoulders exclaimed, “Awwww…really?” I was surprised coz I wasn’t expecting another gift from him on Valentine’s Day. With a big bright smile on his face he lift the blanket slowly (referring to the blanket distributed on the plane during flights)...inside his SLR camera bag is a small red box...he then instructed me to open the box, so i slowly untie the ribbon and lift the lid of the box…bliss overwhelmed me when i saw the ring with a note in a tiny paper saying, "Bebe, i love you so much. Will you marry me?" Tears were streaming down my cheeks as i struggled to get through the words…but i was speechless. Aedz then removed the ring in that tiny box and put it on my left ring finger as he whispered, "What's your answer, be"...tears just kept rolling down and i kissed him instead of muttering a "yes" for a reply. After awhile he repeated the question, "What's your answer, be?"...and i answered him,"YES!!!"..good thing that i was able to say "Yes" instead of "i do" coz i was thinking of the word "i do" but muttered the other one instead. hehehe...my apologies, my thoughts were floating in bliss somewhere :) Awwww we got engaged on our second plane ride together...this makes flight PR300 bound to Hong Kong memorable for us, just as flight UA882 bound to Chicago will always have a special place in our hearts :)…the very reason why Aedner proposed on the airplane is because our friendship started on that turbulent airplane ride bound to Chicago. :)

For Aedz that may be a simple marriage proposal with no gimmick at all coz he wasn’t able to work out his initial plan of requesting the stewardess to hand me the ring and the printed paper…he has this fear of flights…paranoia overclouds his head once inside the airplane. at that moment, he couldn't manage to walk down the rear of the plane & approach one of the stewardess to do him a favor…i told him, the moment is just as perfect as it is coz the man who proposed marriage to me is whom i love most and cannot live without....and what makes it very special is the sincerity in expressing his love and giving me the other part of him for the rest of our lives. The engagement ring is a symbol of our love. Our relationship can still work out without that symbol; but this relationship cannot survive without true love and fidelity. Months before the proposal, I remember telling him that a ring is not necessary for marriage proposal rather fidelity until we exchange vows at the altar; What will bond us for marriage is not the wedding ring we will wear around our finger, but the vow of love & fidelity we will keep forever as sworn before the presence of God.

Excess: Whenever i pause to find the exact words to express the thought I want to convey, i glance at the engagement ring :)…reminiscing special moments with my bebe at flights PR300 and UA882 with a smile…thanks be, you inspire me to put this prose altogether. I love you so much. *hugz*
